Anne's Memory of a Valentine's Day

Anne's memory is when she and Darvin were dating, she

was about 16, he gave her a box of candy with this

doll on it. She has kept it all this time.

Ione's Memory of Valentine's Day

The thought came to me to have Valentine Day memories for this year to post on the blog. I thought of it a little late in the afternoon on the 13th.  About the only ones I could  really notify about it was Ione, Esther and Anne. So there wasn't a lot of time for everybody to think of a memory. As you all know, Ione lost Weldon in 1981 and so it has been awhile for her to look back on a specific Valentine day. She has lots of memories of him that mean a lot to her. While she was trying to think of something for me to post, it brought back a lot of memories for her. She remembers him bringing her lilies every Easter, remembered when they first moved to Colorado, how she missed her family and friends back in Texas. He was so thoughtful and kind and would take her to live performances at a Playhouse to cheer her up. One special Valentine's day he gave her a necklace with a red ruby.

I want to ask everybody to keep Ione in your prayers. She deals with pain everyday. We all will appreciate if you pray for her.

Esther's Memory of a Valentine's Day

I remember the very first valentine that Leland gave me was a beautiful white satin box with red roses. He has given me a lot of them since then. Once when he was working in the gulf he had been home but had to leave before valentine's day. He had left the night before to drive all night to get there . I got up early the next morning to go over to the north pasture to feed the animals and be back home before he called me after he got there. When I got in the pick up to go do the chores, there was a box of valentine candy. He still gets me candy or flowers. I think he is a keeper...

Jo Ann's Memory of a Valentine's Day

We have been married long enough that there have been quite a few Valentine days.  We had probably been married about 3 years on this particular Valentine day. We were struggling financially, like many of those times when he was in the military.  Wayne had gotten me a box of candy before and he has every year since I think. But on this one he gave me a candy bar because that is all we could afford. Of all those years this is the only one that I can really remember and how cute he was giving me a candy bar for Valentine's day.

It is hard to believe this year has gone by so fast. Just a note to let you all know that we love and think about you.

10 more days for Fiesta 2012

More fun time Fiesta pictures. You can always tell when something is going on in San Antonio.
The grocery store I go to is always busy. It's huge and one of the most popular in S.A. and it is only a couple miles from our house. Today I went in to get a few things at HEB and I could check out my groceries right away. If that store is not busy there is something going on. I wasn't surprised in San Antonio Fiesta comes first over buying groceries. See pictures here.
There are about four military bases here and I love to watch the parades they are in and the patriotic music they play is the outstanding.

I put these under the label of holidays. Because Fiesta is one big party that lasts 10 days and is going to be extended in 2014. in San Antonio it is a holiday.
